So I played 5 - 3v3 with Gabrial and Nitro Billy and we won 4 out of 5 with the following strat. The game we lost was vs two majors and a pr 28 captain.

Gabriel - Aztec
Nitro - Brit
Yod - French

Nitro slings Gab & he goes up and hits II about 3:30. He begins making various units (not sure which) and begins attacking of course.

In order for this to work he has to be fast, they cant find his forward, and the third team member, me, attacks from the opposite side.

I went 20 pike, followed by xbow/pike to take out the opposite side's players base since all 3 had aged and were fighting Gab on his side. Then I would join Gab in essentially 2v2 and we would win with Nitro feeding us both.

Another key element is Aztec gets crazy shipments due to the XP from its explorer. Aztec also has team vils and other team improvements.

It was quite fun and good to game with them but I started thinking, maybe we should have a team strat diferent than "rush" or "def rush" or "boom".

Someone want to sit down and design something given our strengths?

I find it hard to get a 3v3 tvb game going. Maybe I haven't been patient enough, but I get frustrated sitting around waiting for a game. It is even tougher to get games if the rating of the players on our team are too different. Having been caught by that strat once from KS, I tend to look for it more now, and if the foward is spotted that strat is in trouble.

I haven't lost my mind; it's backed up on tape somewhere.

It's a real hard strat to pull off against good players. Good players scout for forwards and build central together. If you're patient, I think it's easy to fight off. BUTT, if you feel you are overmatched against better players, it's a nice trick to have up your sleeve. Also, if I bet there could be a way to decoy it if you have pulled it off against other players. Maybe build a quick forward and then pull back boom while one raids etc.....

Well you dont build central together...Gab would build on one edge, and I on the opposite edge...nothing in the middle.

Mack and I ran into an Aztec sling last night in a 2v2 game. It was very powerful and hit earlier then I expected. We spotted the early foward war hut, so we knew it was coming, but still couldn't stop it. I went up early, put most of my guys on wood and started building a block house as soon as possible, but it still wasn't even close to up when they hit. The Aztec was up at 2:30 and attacking around 4:00. Since they built inbetween us, it was tough to tell who they were targeting to attack first. I'm not sure what to do against this in the future, first option is probably to do a bit of a sling too, so someone is up almost as fast and can get some military out. That might be tough since, usually you might not see it coming until it's too late to get someone up early with a sling. Another option is to have a deck with Colonial Militia, and play it first and then concentrate on getting the food and gold for all the militia. This might be the best option and can be tributed some resources from partner. The combined militia would probably be enough to slow down or stop this type of rush. The third option for us Russians might be to actually go up later and get wood early to put up a couple block houses, along with regular militia that might do the trick.

I made a concentrated effort to get up early that game. He had a TON of puma spears up front, I almost thought hax when I saw that many that early. The map also had low resources for crates and it made it even more difficult. I think Krusty is right in having some sort of deck ready for slings. Stronger buildings might be a decent option as well for the Japan deck.

But I think KNOWING that his teammate had absolutely nothing makes it easier to be calm in getting army ready to counter while giving mates some resources to recover. Once we got Krusty going a little bit, we hit his teammate immediately. I think not panicking was huge and probably would of ended sooner if we had mumble or teamspeak up. Was a fun game to win.
